اسم من آیلا هست  My name is Aila (Esme man Aila hast)

من آیلا هستم I am Aila (Man Aila hastam)

نام خانوادگی من رضوانی پبتیستا هست My surname is Rezvani Baptista (nameh khane-vadegy man ….. hast)

As you can see verb “هست” means am,is in English. In Farsi all the verbs changes according to your subjective so for example if you want to say:

“I am” you need to change the verb “هست”(hast) to represent your subjective “I”. We need to add letter “م” (mim) at the end of your verb to have the verb هستم”(hastam)

I found these two maps really interesting. There are so many different languages spoken in Iran itself which I did not know about some of them but the official language of Iran is Farsi.

Iranian new year (Norouz) is always celebrated on the first day of the spring. New Year is all about family time. All Iranian family celebrate this time of the year together and after the new year, it’s a tradition to visit the oldest member of the family which is most cases are grand parents. Children love this time of the year as they are off from school for two weeks and get presents where ever they go to visit which in Farsi they call it Eid Didani.

Few weeks before the new year each house hold have a  spring cleaning and buy lots of Ajil (different kinds of nuts), cookies and fruits and have their haft seen set up. Before the new year Haji Firouz, who is man in red bright clothes will be signing songs, dancing and play tambourine.

The way to learn Farsi is with Ey-yar. I have a passion for Farsi language and it gives me a great pleasure to teach Farsi to others. I would like to express my sincere love and respect to all of you who have been visiting Ey-Yar and I look forward to hearing all your comments and ideas.
Its very interesting for me as a native Farsi speaker to see other people are actually are interested to learn Farsi. With me you will learn Farsi as well as get a feel of what Iranian culture is all about. In my opinion first step to learn the language is to know the back ground and culture of that country.

I look forward to hearing from all of you in near future

‘Farsi’ was the name given to ‘Parsi’ after Persia was invaded by Arabs. Because there is no letter P in Arabic alphabets, therefore they changed ‘Parsi’ to ‘Farsi’. Farsi is the official language of Iran which was known as Persia before 21st of March 1935.  The English equivalent of ‘Farsi’ is ‘Persian’. Persian people like to refer to them selves as Persian rather than Iranian because it can be used to relate all the Persian related items like : Persian rug, Persian cat, Persian gulf, Persian literature and etc . These are the collection of the flags that Iran has had so far.

Persian Flag after 1747       Qajar Flag

Persian Flag to 1906        Persian Flag 1906-1933

Iranian state Flag 1933-1964         Iranian State 1964-1979

Iranian Flag from 1979-1980        Current Flag of Islamic Republic of Iran
